Why Working For Your Boss Won’t Make You Rich

Wanting to be rich is a wonderful ambition but working for someone else is not the answer. To be rich and successful, you need to be willing to take risks and wean yourself from the stability of a regular job.

If you’ve been confused about quitting your job and starting your own business, here are four solid reasons that explain why you won’t make money working for your boss:

A regular job is too comfortable

This is a double-edged sword. A regular income helps you feel secure and comfortable. But if you want to get rich, it’s important to be willing to come out of the comfort zone. Drawing a steady income at the end of each month can be a strong inducement to stay on. The salary might take care of your basic needs but it won’t make you rich. Working for someone else tends to make you complacent.

You are working to make someone else rich

If you work for someone else, your hard work helps them become rich. You may feel secure working for someone else but if you really think about it, all your work goes into making someone else rich. On the other hand, all the hard work that you do for yourself comes right back to you. All the money that you earn is yours.

Time is a more valuable asset than money

Imagine working 9 to 5 for 5 days a week for yourself; you are investing 40 hours into your own growth. All rich and successful people know that time is a much more valuable asset than money. If you have spent money, you can always earn it back (provided you know how to) but it’s impossible to replace lost or wasted time. When you work for someone else, you invest all your valuable time into helping the person grow professionally and financially. It’s worthwhile spending that time on yourself instead.

Saving is not the same as making money

While saving money for a rainy day is an excellent habit, it is not the same as making money. Savings can grow over time but to get rich, you have to work towards making a lot of money. Saving is a slower process. If you want to maximise your savings, choose to invest your spare cash instead; remember, nobody ever got rich simply through saving but through investing their savings. This will help your money generate more money faster than savings alone.

You have to stop working for other people in order to get rich.
