You have made the decision to finally step out on your own. You have created your business plan, you have identified your target market, you know exactly what you are doing. Now, there’s just that little matter of deciding on a logo and you are ready to go. Deciding on your logo should not be an afterthought or something that is just thrown together haphazardly in a ‘that’ll do’ fashion. Your logo is vitally important to the success of your business. Get it wrong and you can deter potential clients from working with you. Get it right and your business can go far. Fortunately, this is not something that you need to hire anyone else to do, and you can now create a professionally designed logo yourself. Here are some reasons why it is so important to get your logo right first time:

Your logo is the first impression you give

Your logo will be one of the first things that potential clients and customers will see and will be the thing that they will remember. If your business has a badly designed and shoddy logo, how will potential clients be convinced that anything else you do will not be the same? Make it memorable, make it clear and make it professional.

Your logo is your visual tool

People are drawn to logos and tend to remember visual cues more than written ones. Who isn’t familiar with the golden arches or the ‘swoosh’ of a sports brand? You know the brands just by conjuring up the image of their logos, right? And that’s exactly how your logo needs to work too.

Make it your own

When it comes to designing your logo you need to make sure that you make it your own. Your logo will be your company’s signature so ensuring it is unique to your business and brand is of utmost importance. Do not try to replicate another company’s logo – you might also be breaking the law if you do.

Choose the right colours

Colour is a powerful way of reaching people and your brand can convey a different impression just by the colours you choose. Reds are associated with feelings of power, love, energy or danger and its sense of urgency makes it perfect when wanting to grab the attention of impulse shoppers – think clearance sales signs and fast food stores. Blues, on the other hand, evoke feelings of trust and security, orderliness and a constant calmness. These effects explain why social media channels tend to use blues in order to gain trust from users who will be using them to divulge their deepest feelings and thought. Want clients to trust you? Use blues. Want to sell stuff fast? Go for the reds instead.

Once you have created your logo, stick to it. Do not create different logos for different purposes, e.g. letterheads vs online banners. Using the same logo on all material will prevent confusion and increase familiarity with your brand – and that is just what you want.          Site Policy
